* Downcut - good for veneers (like plywood)

* Upcut - good for chip evacuation

* Compression - Best of both worlds but the point where to two flute directions intersect should be at the middle or inside the depth of your stock.

Make sure Turnto turn on dust collector before cutting or use the shop vacuum tube.
